I bought the Wiksten Tank (and dress) pattern a while back. It’s not specifically a maternity pattern, but it’s relaxed style makes it perfect when sporting a bit of a baby bump. This suits me fine, because I’d rather make something I can wear now and later.
I hadn’t done much sewing as of late, so I was itching to get back into it. This was the perfect project to ease back in, it’s pretty simple and fast (with the most time consuming bit being the binding.) You don’t need to own an overlocker/ serger to make this either, as all the raw edges are either enclosed in french seams or the binding. It was also really enjoyable to make something for myself (for a change!)
Enough words. On with the photos.
- Wiksten Tank – made by me (pattern from here, fabric from my MIL’s stash)
- Drawstring Shorts – Shanton (pretty good for bump accommodating/elasticated/ drawstring shorts
- Shoes – Rubi
I really enjoyed making this tank and am looking forward to making a few more and perhaps a dress version, maybe in stretch knit fabric … I’m thinking coral?
Have you made a Wiksten tank, or done some sewing for yourself recently? Please leave a comment and link to a relevant blog post, if you like. I’d love being inspired by other’s sewing.
